It started with our own kitchen.
We knew exactly what we wanted — the cabinets, the hardware, the countertops. What we couldn't find was anyone willing to simply supply it and install it well.
You can have your dream kitchen with some support in the right places.
My wife and I were like a lot of homeowners in need of an updated kitchen. We knew what we wanted it to look like — the cabinets, the hardware, the countertops, the appliances — but we didn't need an interior designer, and we didn't need a full gut demolition with a general contractor. Many hours of home improvement shows had instilled a vision in us that plenty of our friends and family shared.
We began our research and found that the options for that vision were limited. At the upper end were extremely expensive custom cabinet shops. At the other end were choppy online stores selling cheap product, leaving far too much of the measuring and the logistics to us. In between sat the big box stores: lower-quality cabinets and long lead times.
Luckily, I had a lot of friends who were tradesmen, and they agreed with me — cabinets are one of the most marked-up portions of a kitchen, and 95% of homeowners don't require custom millwork.
Then one of my most successful friends, who owns a remodeling business, pointed out a second gap: how easily communication and customer service get overlooked.
Customers told him outright that he wasn't the cheapest option. But because he communicated so well, and was honest about the nuances of construction, they happily chose his company — and referred him to their friends.
So the beginnings of a business evolved out of a need my wife and I — and so many other design-forward homeowners — kept running into: quality cabinetry supply and installation, without the boutique designer price tag or the need for a GC.
Why Silver Bismarck?
The Silver Bismarck Palm is a striking, large fan palm native to Madagascar, famous for its massive, circular, silver-blue fronds and bold architectural look. It thrives in warm tropical and subtropical climates, and it's a popular statement plant in South Florida landscapes.
Striking, bold architecture is exactly what a kitchen should have — and the nod to our own South Florida origins endures in that one symbol.
